A. Statement (1) ALONE is sufficient, but statement (2) alone is not sufficient.
B. Statement (2) ALONE is sufficient, but statement (1) alone is not sufficient.

Statement (1) is equivalent to the equation being questioned, thus it is sufficient to decide it.
Statement (2) defines values to all the three variables, thus it is also fully sufficient.

In conclusion, each statement is sufficient by itself, leading to correct answer (D)
